Consultant doctor jobs in Singapore: a relocation guide
Strong packages, low personal tax and world class hospitals. Here is what consultants should know before making the move to Singapore.
Singapore consistently ranks among the best places in the world to live and work, and its healthcare system is world renowned. For consultants considering an international move, it offers an exceptional combination of professional opportunity, financial reward and lifestyle. Planet TA has spent more than a decade recruiting senior doctors into the Singapore market, and this guide covers what you need to know.
Packages and tax
Consultant packages in Singapore typically run from around 175,000 to 300,000 pounds sterling, made up of basic salary plus bonus and allowances, and varying with specialty and experience. Personal tax rates are low, averaging around 15 percent, so more of what you earn stays with you. Employers commonly provide a full relocation package, generous annual and CME leave, medical indemnity and other benefits.
Hospitals and specialties
We recruit for both public and private hospitals, including newly opened facilities that are actively growing their consultant teams. Current demand spans anaesthesia, radiology, pathology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, urology, haematology, microbiology and orthopaedics, among others. Many roles sit within large, genuinely international teams, which makes settling in easier.
Registration and requirements
You will need recognised specialist qualifications, relevant consultant level experience and registration with the Singapore Medical Council. English is the official working language, so no additional language testing is usually required. We help you understand the registration pathway for your specialty early, so there are no surprises.
Why Singapore?
Beyond the role itself, Singapore offers advanced technology and beautifully designed hospitals, excellent schools, a safe and multicultural society, one of the most efficient transport networks anywhere and a food scene that blends cuisines from across Asia. It is also a perfect base for exploring the rest of South East Asia.
